  • This is a story about overcoming evil, about a little girl's dream coming true, and about the magic of Christmas! On a snowy Christmas Eve long ago in a small German village, the Silberhaus family planned a fine party for their friends and family. Their children, Clara and Fritz, were especially excited to see Dr. Drosselmeyer, their godfather arrive with gifts for each of them. A maker of Mechanical clocks and toys, Dr. Drosselmeyer brought life-sized dolls to entertain at the party, and for Clara a magnificent toy Nutcracker.

Of course Fritz wanted to play with Clara's new Nutcracker. As the two children struggled, the Nutcracker fell to the floor, broken! When all the guests departed, it was a sad Clara who crept downstairs to check on her poor broken Nutcracker.

The clock struck midnight and the magic of Christmas began! Naughty mice chased Clara until she fell exhausted and her guardian angels watched over her. Then the Christmas tree twirled and swirled bigger than life, the toys came to life, and the battle began! Led by the Mouse King, the army of mice fought the Nutcracker.

The moment Clara threw her shoe and struck the Mouse King, he fell dead. The mice and soldiers disappeared and the Nutcracker became a handsome Prince! The two depart on an enchanted journey. In the Forest of Christmas they see the Snow Queen dance with her King, while beautiful snowflakes dance around them. In the Kingdom of Sweet, which is ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy, Clara is guest of honor at a grand party with great things to eat and drink. She sees Hot Chocolate from Spain, Coffee from the Orient, Tea from China and Candy Canes dance to the sound of little flutes. Mother Ginger (the unofficial Queen of this land) appears with many children. When it is over you must decide...

Was this enchanted journey real or was it a dream?
